Horns go down in final CWS game…

Some things just weren’t meant to be…maybe this was just one of those! “Shoulda – coulda” just doesn’t make me feel better, so I’ll just say we were outplayed by LSU. I take nothing away from the Horns, but sometimes a game works for you, and sometimes it doesn’t. Congrats to the Tigers! We’ll see you guys next season.

Horns go for the national title tonight…

After a disappointing loss to LSU in the first game of the CWS, you almost knew the second game of the series had to play out like it did. When two teams dominate the College World Series tournament the way the LSU Tigers, and Texas Longhorns did, there was no chance one team or the other was going to sweep the best of three series. There just had to be a game three. And the Horns came through to make that third game a reality with a 5 to 1 victory over the LSU Tigers.

Game three is tonight, Go Horns!

College World Series all ready to roll…Texas vs. LSU

I’m pretty pumped – after watching LSU handle Arkansas 14-5 in the early game, Texas took care of business late against Arizona State. The Longhorns got two solo home runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to squeak by the Sun Devils in a 4-3 nail biter. Texas and LSU will meet in a best of three in the CWS Championship Final beginning on Monday.

Good Luck Horns! Hook ‘Em!

I think Lincoln said it best…

School’s Out!

The collective screams of joy you may have heard this week around Cedar Park and Leander were probably from the more than 30,000 (I’m just guessing at this number) students after the last day of the school year. I can remember those days myself – and memories that will last forever were in the making!

Whenever kids get out for the summer, it always reminds me of the song sung by Alice Cooper “School’s Out”. I mentioned to my daughter that this “Anthem” for kids getting out of school came too late for me and my buddies – but when we heard it, we celebrated by singing it anytime we thought about those good old days.

My daughter (who is only 10 years old) looked at me quizzically and wondered what all the fuss was about a song called “Schools Out”. I belted out my version of the song, but stopped dead in my tracks when I noticed that it appeared I just MIGHT be embarrassing my little princess in front of her friends. Now that I think about it – I DID embarrass myself. So, to remedy this I found a YouTube flick for her to hear it proper!

So for my daughter and her little buddies…here is “SCHOOL’S OUT” sung by Alice Cooper (along with the lyrics).

Future voters in America…

I’m told this is a true story…

In a Seattle Washington college classroom, students were discussing the qualifications to be President of the United States. It was pretty simple – the candidate must be a natural born citizen of at least 35 years of age.

However, one girl in the class immediately started in on how unfair was the requirement to be a natural born citizen. In short, her opinion was that this requirement prevented many capable individuals from becoming president. The class was taking it in and letting her rant, but everyone’s jaw hit the floor when she wrapped up her argument by stating, ‘What makes a natural born citizen any more qualified to lead this country than one born by C-section?’

Yep, these are among the many young people that just voted for the President of the United States.
